Looked Up From My Phone...

Sitting in a local laundry mat...

I happened to look up from my phone and instantly became memorized by what was in front of me....

I felt like I had stepped into another decade. The Toms & Pepsi vending machine along with the vintage soap dispenser in the back speaks volumes. I've been coming to this laundry mat for years. Barely anything works and there's no source of entertainment (TV/radio), but I absolutely love this place! Still, I'm usually entertaining myself with my phone.

Purpose of this is to show how important it is to pay attention to the world around us.
....never know what beauty you might miss.

Behind the Documentary

A few weeks ago I was the Videographer for our documentary.
On this particular day was set building. I took advantage of setting up the JVC in different areas of the theater for test shots. I also decided this would be the best time to get still shots of the crew as they interact with each other off script.

The JVC is set up recording. I just came back inside from taking exterior shots of the building.

Lesson I Learned: During down times, test out different areas of your set and make mental notes of hot spots.

Practice Makes Perfect

My classmate (Desiree) music video shoot

Saturday (2/14/15) I helped my classmate shoot scenes from her music video. I was really only assisting with lighting and other minor needs. Just to think a week ago we were just being introduced to these camera's (Black Magic & JVC), and now we're in production; filming aimlessly.

I start filming (with my own camera; Nikon D3200) Thursday (2/18/15).

Lesson I Learned: there's NO such thing as TOO much PRE-PRODUCTION

Practice Makes Perfect...

One of many rehearsal for my music visual project.

In the control room creating my CG.

I remember having the concept in my head but not knowing how I was going to bring it to life. Finally my creative juices went into overload. I knew how I wanted my lighting, camera angles, transitions, and exactly how I was going to maneuver the switcher.

Lesson I Learned: Make sure to rehearse with every crew member, so they know exactly what u want and how you want it.

This project I volunteered as a Production Assistant to gain knowledge of the production aspects of short films. Mr. Anderson gave me a thorough hands-on experience from set-up to set break down.
